BPme is a ‘Pay for fuel’ innovative mobile app being used by more than 400,000 enrolled users around the world – for Australia, the UK, Mexico and for the countries to follow around the globe.
As part of BP’s digital transformation, BPme is the first step in changing the ways BP interact with their customers, making it one of the most complex and high-profile projects within the company.
After discovery/research phase of a new feature I work with our lead architect we define a high level user flow of which considers information architecture and technical constraints, often these initial flows will be iterated upon multiple time as a feature evolves, and new features are added.
During this stage of the design process I focus on looking at all possible scenarios to ensure the proposed design is robust and is harmonious with the rest of the application. Once we are confident all error scenarios and edge cases have been considered, a BA, a lead architect and myself start documenting the acceptance criteria to be assessed with whichever market PO owns this feature.
Though the final visual designs of the application is the responsibility of the visual design team, I take ownership creating of micro-interactions and transitions when I feel I can simplify or clarify a process through subtle motion.
We use Invision style click-through prototypes to convey requirements to our development team, however with more complex interactions I create high fidelity prototypes and key timings to ensure the quality of the products development.
This is the release tutorial video explaining BPme, however since this video was released many enhancements and features have been added to the application.
